Social Media Marketing: A Few Tips For Success

Think SEO for Social Media Marketing

So, you have an online business and you’d like to practice social media marketing to improve brand awareness? That’s a great first step. The next step, of course, is to make sure that you’re doing it right.

Here are a few tips for success in social media initiatives.

1. Think SEO when using social media. SEO is an acronym for “Search Engine Optimization”. It’s a means by which savvy content producers ensure that their content is easily found and ranks high when specific keyword search results are returned by the search engines. Most people associate SEO with blog posts, but you can also use SEO in your social media efforts. Ensure that your tweets are keyword-rich. Ensure that your profiles on the various social media sites are also keyword-rich. This will help rank your brand more highly with the search engines.

2. Produce high quality, shareable content and share it online. Create a blog post that is spectacular. Ensure that it relates to your business or target market. Use social media to share that post with your fans/followers/contacts. People who like what they see (and they should like it, if it’s high quality) will share it with their connections, and eventually you could have content that goes viral. It’s a great way to reach more people, and ensure that your site ranks more highly with the search engines.

3. Use Pinterest. This is one often overlooked aspect of social media. Pinterest, in case you don’t know about it, is a virtual pinboard where people post graphics. How can this help your business? Simple: produce an infographic which contains relevant information specific to the products or services you provide. Post it on Pinterest. If it’s informative and professional in appearance, you’ll probably notice that it gets repinned. Make sure you advertise your website on the infographic. If your not into graphics we can help you out.
